Introduction
The Rolling Barrel recognises the importance of protecting your (“the User”) personal information. Therefore, we have put together and follow a policy that respects and addresses that.
Information collection
The Rolling Barrel (TRB) is the sole owner of the information collected on the website (“the Site”). We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed here.
We keep track of the User’s IP address. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information. This information is aggregated to measure the number of visits, average time spent at the Site, pages viewed, etc. TRB assumes no obligation to protect this information and may copy, distribute or otherwise use such information without limitation.
At specific times we may ask the User to provide us with personal information. This information may include but is not limited to the User’s name and e-mail address. The User may always choose not to provide us with this information. However, this may limit our ability to provide the User with a specific service or offer the User personalised content.
We request information from the User on our SIGN IN section. Here the User must provide personal details such as name, phone number, and e-mail address etc. If we have trouble processing a request, the contact information is used to get in touch with the User.
What other uses does The Rolling Barrel have with the data it collects?
Whenever TRB collects data, the data is intended to tailor or improve the experience of visitors to the Site. From the data collected, we can customise content and advertising based on the User’s preferences. We analyse what our users prefer in order to improve The Rolling Barrel. Some broad statistical customer data is provided to our advertisers but specific personal information is not shared with our advertisers, except as otherwise stated in this Privacy Statement.
On occasion, we will e-mail bulletins to provide the user with information about new products and services. We might also contact the User by e-mail to see if the user is interested in participating in market research regarding TRB. In every such e-mail, we will also have instructions on how to unsubscribe and avoid receiving any future e-mails from us. TRB also may contact the User by e-mail to respond to customer-service complaints the User has submitted, to address a problem affecting the User’s use of the service, or to verify the User’s account information if the User submits a password request. If at any time the User feels the User has received an e-mail from TRB that the User did not request, please send the User’s concerns, along with a copy of the e-mail, to info@therollingbarrel.co.za.
What organisation is collecting the information?
Some of our content partners, as well as advertisers who display ads on the Site, may use cookies or otherwise independently collect information from the User. We do not control their collection and use of information or their use of cookies or have access to the information contained in or related to those cookies.
If the User has questions regarding the Privacy Statement or data collection practices of one of our content partners, please contact that partner directly.
If the User has any questions regarding who is collecting or receiving the information the User provides on the Site, please contact us.
To whom does The Rolling Barrel share data?
We may share aggregated demographic information with our advertisers or information collection companies, but will not reveal any personally identifiable information in these instances. These companies do not retain, share, store or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes. We also partner with third parties to provide specific services. When the user signs up for these services, we will share the information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services. These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services.
We will not voluntarily disclose any information about individual users, except as described in this Privacy Statement, or to comply with applicable laws or valid legal process, or to protect the rights or property of TRB or others, to assist our e-mail vendor with resolving complaints about unsolicited e-mail, or as otherwise described in this Privacy Statement.

What choices are available regarding collection, use, and distribution of the information (Opt-Out Policy)?
Many of the services available on the Site provide the User with the opportunity to opt-out of receiving communications from us and our partners. In our e-mail communications, we will have instructions on how to unsubscribe so that the User will not receive any future e-mails from us if the User so chooses.
The User may always choose to not provide us with any of the information we request; however, this may limit our ability to provide the User with a specific service or limit our ability to offer personalised content.
How can the User update or correct the User’s information?
If a User’s personally identifiable information changes (such as the User’s e-mail address), or if the user no longer desires our service, we will provide a way to correct, update or remove that User’s personal data provided to us. This can be done from the MANAGE MY ACCOUNT page or by e-mailing TRB at info@therollingbarrel.co.za.
What procedures have been designed to protect the loss, misuse, or alteration of the information under TRB‘s control?
TRB takes every precaution to protect the User’s information.
We also do everything in our power to protect user information offline. Access to all of our Users’ information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to personally identifiable information. Finally, the servers that we store personally identifiable information on are kept in a secure environment.
Should you have further queries regarding security issues you are welcome to complete our feedback form with your queries.
What about privacy policies for sites linked to TRB?
TRB contains many links to Web sites not affiliated with TRB. These sites have their own policies and practices with respect to online privacy, and TRB cannot be responsible for the privacy practices or the content of these unaffiliated Web sites. In addition, in certain instances, a TRB advertiser may ask the User for personal information. TRB cannot be responsible for the privacy practices of its advertisers.
What happens to my information if TRB merges with or is sold to another company?
It is possible that TRB and/or any of our assets may be acquired. In such a transaction, customer information may be transferred to the acquiring entity. While we will endeavor to require the successor company to maintain this Privacy Statement, we cannot guarantee that our policy will remain in effect.
Communications
We send all new members a welcoming e-mail to verify password and username. If a User wishes to subscribe to our newsletter, we ask for contact information such as name and e-mail address. Out of respect for the privacy of our users, we present the option to not receive these types of communications. Please see our Opt/Out section below.
We also send the user site and service announcement updates. Members are not able to unsubscribe from service announcements, which contain important information about the service. We communicate with the User to provide requested services and in regards to issues relating to their account via e-mail.

We will post our new Privacy Statement, along with the date of its last revision, prominently so that the User will always know what information we gather, how we might use that information, and whether we will disclose it to anyone. Please check this Web page for information about revisions to our Privacy Statement.
